A really Greek night out

Greek music, Greek food and good friends. What a way to spend a warm Sunday night here in our old Village. Along with more than 250 we joined in the fun and the traditional music served up by an excellent band. They were obviously well known as the outdoor area at the top of our village was packed.
Tickets were only ten euros, and when seated it included a bottle of wine and more food than we could eat.. Officially the evening was due to start at 9.30, being Greece it actually got going an hour later, but the food was brought to the table during this time, and with many from the village who we know,
It was a great evening. Our American friends Duane and Cheryl came also and had a really good time, despite it being a late night. Music was due to carry on until early morning, which it certainly did.
This was not like the Monday night music in the platia, which is designed for tourists, but it was genuine Cretan music - for Cretans and those who enjoy a good night out.

Listen, enjoy - let's eat!

THERE is always something to enjoy here on the island, Tonight it was another music night, this time with our senior citizens organisation KAPI. Held at their headquarters in Hersonissos, the choir came up with some new material under the direction of their new choir master.
They had hardly finished when there was a big rush (as usual for the food) Members had been asked to bring dishes along to add that already, and there was a great deal.
It ranged from moussaka to souvlaki, and a whole range of other special dishes, Despite some filling plates to overflowing there was enough to feed all, there was also a great range of drinks, and then it was down to the dancing until late at night.
